New Year, New MS Discoveries?

2011 could shape up to be an amazing year. With Dr. Zamboni getting the OK to start his Clinical Trial for CCSVI and MS, many others already having the Liberation treatment done and so much dialogue being done about new ideas about Multiple Sclerosis, this year could be a turning point for so many facing this disease. My wife and I have been following all of this very closely but are not at a point to where we feel ready to jump in yet. There is still a lot of details to be worked out concerning after care and a way to create long term opening of the veins, that we are not ready to move forward with the procedure. But, it has been amazing to read stories about progressive MS patients that have seen miraculous recovery from this surgery. We will be following everything with anticipation to see what new technology or technique or method may fix some of the issues that are currently hindering a full recovery for many of the patients.

I know for my wife, the last year and a half have been very interesting. I can honestly say she has had more daily issues with her MS where we live now than almost any other time since her diagnosis. She hasn't had any major attacks or major issues, just annoying issues that have disrupted the routines of our life and affected our daily living. We have made some commitments in 2011 to begin to shape our lives better so we can control more of the things that we know are affecting her health. She is already beginning to take control of some of her dietary habits again, and we are gearing up for some much needed physical training to strengthen and build up our bodies. We have already began to make some major changes in our lives, and I am excited about what the future holds for treatment of MS.

Hi, Cory! My name is Brandi and I must tell you I've been following your blog! I was on a Google hunt for the "MS hug" a few weeks ago and there you popped up. I, too have MS. My husband and I lead praise and worship for our youth group and are praying about full time music ministry. Anyhow, he was thrilled, as was I, to find a blog not only about MS from a different view than what ya normally get, but from a SPOUSAL view! What a blessing you and your wife are for sharing! Please know that I haven't read EVERY post, but I'm getting there. :) Also, I'm keeping you and your amazing wife in my prayers. I also have a blog; I tell a little about my MS and my diagnosis almost 18 months ago. It's private, but if you like, I can email you and your wife an invite so ya'll can read it. Again, I just wanted to say thanks for being such an encouragement and reminder that I CAN DO THIS. Also, if your wife ever wants to talk, MSer to MSer, I'm here. I know she's farther along than I in this battle, but Christian sisters who understand this MonSter are hard to come by. She's welcome to contact me as I would LOVE to talk with her as well! Thanks again and may God bless you and your family!
In Him,
Brandi

Hey Brandi, thanks so much for the comment. I have been so busy lately that I haven't been able to write much, but I hope to get back to blogging regularly this year. I would love to read your blog. You can send me an email to mywifehasms@gmail.com. I am also a worship leader, so that is great. My wife and I love to sing, so it is great to meet kindred souls. If you have any other questions for us, please let me know. Have a great day and thanks for the prayers.

Hi Cory, thank you for inviting me to share my thoughts on the "CCSVI"
procedure. It went very well. My Dr. (David Sperling, Columbia Endovascular) ballooned 3 locations of stenosis, 2 in left jugular vein, also azygous vein, no stents were needed, praise the Lord. 2 days post op I spent resting,3rd day I noticed my fatigue is about 60% gone. There have been other subtle improvements. I know I'll get stronger each day. There was never a doubt in my mind re. my decision. My husbands' and my familys' prayers have been answered favorably.
..But he should ask in faith, not doubting,...James1:6
I hope this is helpful. If you have any questions, I'm more than happy to answer.
God bless!!

Thanks so much for the message; I sent you and your wife a blog invite so you're welcome to read whenever you like! I've written a little about MS, but the main stuff are the "How I Met Your Daddy..." posts. You'll see where to go for MS stuff and the other stuff. :) God's doing amazing things through this blog; we're now hoping it will be a book as that looks to be the direction the Lord is taking it. We'll see what He has in store for us! :) And yes, we feel the exact same way about singing/music, especially praise and worship. We're actually praying about ministry right now....this is another work God has up His sleeve. He ceases to amaze us!!!
