Alternative Treatments for Multiple Sclerosis

My wife and I have spent the last six years researching and trying different alternative therapies for MS. We have worked with Naturopathic Doctors, Chiropractors, Multiple Sclerosis Specialists and a host of other therapists to try and figure out the puzzle of my wife's MS. We have found many treatments that work, and are still seeking specific treatments for specific symptoms.

I am going to try and give some specifics over the next few posts to allow others to see what has worked for us and what hasn't. We have found certain treatments that seem to stop attacks, and other treatments that reverse attacks. We are always looking for more options and will be seeking out a new doctor this coming year to learn and grow more. Hopefully through the network we have established we will draw closer to a way of life that will best help my wife.

Cory, i have read some of the articles on your blog. I have not yet been diagnosed with MS, but will be having an MRI done the first of the year. Thank you for the things you wrote about your wife's health. You described me to a T on some of the things. You must be a very patient man. My husband is really struggling to understand why my body has been so bizarre the last few months. We have 3 little ones and he is in school. It is hard for him to have to come home early to help me cause I'm too weak to do things myself. I have been exposed to mold in 4 different homes/apts that I have lived in the last 8 years and we are wondering if that is not what has started all of this. Now that I have a lead on what I may have and have researched MS, I can place my first symptoms back 4 or 5 years. They have gotten progeressively worse the last 10 months. Thanks for your article. Dear Sherry, thanks for the comment. I am so sorry to hear about your situation, and I totally understand how frustrating all of this can be. Please let me know if there are any questions you have because I have only touched on a small part of what we have been through. My wife and I will be praying for you and your family.

Thank you,

I have an appointment with the neurologist on the 8th of Jan. My husband is very supportive, but I know he gets frustrated. I didn't even have the strength to take the one string of lights off of our 3 foot tree without resting my arms. He can't even comprehend what that must feel like. I do have some questions for you. Does your wife have much pain? My pain will come and go, but is constant when using birth control. Has she noticed anything with hormone changes making it worse? Also, is she on perscription medications, and which do you recommend or does that depend on the state of MS you have? Does she have to stay away from sugars and carbs? Does she still deal with the sleeping issues? I take lunesta about 3-4 nights a week and on the other nights I take an herb called 5HTP from Natures Sunshine and then a melatonin supplement. Both work really well, but there are still some nights that I am awake all night or in a consious sleep. It can get pretty annoying. Thanks for your prayers. We really need them rt now. Have a Happy New Year! Sherry
